Updating your sinks and plumbing fixtures can be a quick and easy way to update a kitchen or bathroom quickly and inexpensively.
Your average home has many sinks with just as many different names. Lavatories, (what plumbers call bathroom sinks), kitchen sink, bar sink, vegetable sink, laundry sinks or mop sinks and even wet bar sinks located in outdoor kitchens.
Sinks can also be made from a number of materials. Some of these materials can be pretty standard, such as stainless steel, porcelain or marble. Other materials, such as glass, copper, brass and even stone can be more exotic.
Regardless of the material they are made out of or the location in your home or business, all sinks have the basic components – drain line, strainer and stopper. Well-made lavatories will also have a built-in overflow drain.
The following articles describe the installation, connections and cleaning of the sinks in your home.
