DeKalb County, GA Plumbing Fixture Requirement


On February 26, 2008 Dekalb County approved the Inefficient Plumbing Fixtures Replacement Plan. Any home built prior to 1993 must have low flow toilets and plumbing fixtures installed before the homeowner can obtain water from the county.

New Water Heater Regulations: NAECA Requirements to take effect April 16, 2015


After April 15, 2015 new water heater regulations may cause a routine water heater replacement to become an unexpectedly expensive event for homeowners.  The U.S. Department of Energy will begin enforcing new energy standards for hot water heaters in residential buildings.  The updates to the National Appliance Energy Conservation Act (NAECA) require new water heaters to be more environmentally conscious.

Cherokee County Sewer and Water Authority Expansion Tank Requirements

Cherokee county has joined the ranks of many other Metro-Atlanta water companies by improving the infrastructure of our water systems.  Many Cherokee residents have been receiving letters from Cherokee County Sewer and Water Authority informing them that they will be installing new backflow prevention devices in their area.

Have you recently receive a letter requiring the installation of a thermal control device? 
County building departments and water companies across Georgia have been sending out notices to residents urging them to install thermal expansion tanks before they begin work on the local water system. This is due to a notice received by the water department from the federal government requiring water supplies to be protected against backflow. Slowly but sure all the old water meters are being updated with dual check valves and in some areas, electronic read meters.
